Temu has become the fastest-growing online marketplace in history, and for UK sellers, the opportunity right now is enormous. With over 500 million active shoppers globally and 13 million monthly active users in the UK alone, setting up a Temu store is no longer a speculative side project — it's a legitimate revenue channel that should sit alongside Amazon, eBay, and your own website.
But here's the thing most sellers don't realise: launching on Temu properly — with optimised listings, correct compliance documentation, and the right account structure — can be done in under 10 days. At SellerSpring, this is the exact timeline we work to with every client. This guide walks you through the same process, step by step.
Day 1–2: Account Creation and Verification
The first step is creating your Temu seller account. This involves submitting your business details, including your UK Companies House registration number, VAT number (if applicable), and a valid business bank account. Temu's verification process has become more streamlined over the past year, but there are still a few areas where sellers commonly get tripped up.
The most frequent issue we see is mismatched business names. The name on your Temu application needs to exactly match the name registered at Companies House — including any "Ltd", "Limited", or trading name variations. A mismatch here will delay verification by several days.
Required documents:
- Companies House registration certificate or screenshot
- Proof of UK address (utility bill or bank statement, less than 3 months old)
- VAT registration certificate (if VAT-registered)
- Business bank account details (account name must match registered company)
- Photo ID of the account holder (passport or driving licence)
SellerSpring tip: If you're using a trading name that differs from your registered company name, include both in your initial application with a note explaining the relationship. This avoids the most common verification delay we see.
Day 2–3: Store Profile and Brand Setup
Once your account is verified, you'll need to configure your store profile. This includes your store name, logo, banner image, and description. Don't rush this step — your store profile is the first thing customers see when they browse your products, and Temu's algorithm takes profile completeness into account when deciding which sellers to surface in search results.
Your store name should be brandable, relevant to your product category, and easy to remember. Avoid generic names like "UK Best Deals" — these don't build trust and they make you indistinguishable from thousands of other sellers.
Brand registration
If you have a registered trademark, submitting your brand registration on Temu early is critical. Brand-registered sellers get access to enhanced brand content, better listing protection, and priority support. The registration process typically takes 3–5 business days, so submitting it in parallel with your store setup means it'll be approved around the time your first listings go live.
Even if you don't have a trademark, you should still set up your store profile as completely as possible. Temu rewards completeness — stores with logos, banners, and full descriptions consistently outperform those without.
Day 3–5: Product Listing Creation
This is where most sellers either succeed or fail on Temu. A well-optimised listing on Temu is not the same as a well-optimised listing on Amazon. The platforms have different search algorithms, different customer behaviours, and different content requirements.
Title structure
Temu's search algorithm weighs titles heavily. Unlike Amazon, where backend keywords carry significant weight, Temu relies more on the visible title for search matching. A strong Temu title follows this structure:
[Brand] + [Product Type] + [Key Feature 1] + [Key Feature 2] + [Material/Size] + [Use Case]
For example: "GardenPro Stainless Steel Pruning Shears – Ergonomic Non-Slip Handle, Professional Grade for Rose Bushes and Hedges"
Product descriptions
Descriptions should be keyword-rich but readable. Temu shoppers are mobile-first — over 85% of Temu browsing happens on the app — which means your descriptions need to be scannable. Use short paragraphs, bullet points for key features, and bold your most important selling points.
Images
Temu requires a minimum of 3 images per listing, but listings with 6–8 images consistently outperform those with fewer. Your main image should be on a white background, showning the product clearly at a minimum of 800×800 pixels. Additional images should show the product in use, highlight key features, and include any size or comparison references.
"The single biggest lever for conversion rate on Temu is image quality. Sellers who invest in proper product photography see 2–3× higher click-through rates compared to those using supplier-provided images." — SellerSpring data, Q1 2026
Categorisation and tagging
Correct product categorisation is essential. Temu uses a nested category tree, and selecting the wrong sub-category will either hide your product from relevant searches or trigger compliance reviews. At SellerSpring, we map every product to the most specific sub-category available before publishing.
Day 5–7: Shipping and Fulfilment Configuration
One of Temu's biggest advantages for UK sellers is the flexibility of its fulfilment model. Unlike Amazon, where FBA is heavily incentivised (and practically required to win the Buy Box), Temu allows you to use your own warehouse, your own couriers, and your own processes from day one.
Shipping setup
You'll need to configure your shipping templates, including delivery timeframes, shipping costs (if any), and the couriers you'll use. Temu recommends offering free shipping where possible — listings with free shipping see significantly higher conversion rates — but this isn't mandatory.
For UK-to-UK fulfilment, most of our clients use Royal Mail, DPD, Evri, or their existing 3PL provider. If you're already shipping orders for Amazon or eBay, you can use exactly the same setup for Temu.
Returns policy
Temu has a standardised returns policy, but you can configure certain aspects. Make sure your returns address is correct and that you understand the returns process before your first sale — nothing damages your seller metrics faster than a mishandled return in your first week.
Day 7–9: Compliance Review and Pre-Launch Checks
Before your listings go live, Temu runs a compliance review. This checks that your products meet UK consumer safety regulations, that your listings don't contain prohibited claims, and that your images and descriptions are accurate.
Common compliance flags:
- Missing CE/UKCA marking: If your product requires a CE or UKCA mark, the documentation must be submitted before listing approval
- Health claims: Any product making health, medical, or therapeutic claims will be flagged for review
- Restricted materials: Certain materials (specific chemicals, certain textiles) have additional documentation requirements
- Age restrictions: Products intended for children must comply with UK toy safety standards
- Electrical products: Must have appropriate UK plug type and safety certifications
The compliance review typically takes 1–3 business days. At SellerSpring, we pre-check every listing against Temu's compliance requirements before submission, which means our clients almost never experience a compliance-related delay.
Day 10: Go Live
Once compliance is cleared, your listings go live and you're officially selling on Temu. But the work doesn't stop here. Your first two weeks of sales performance will significantly influence how Temu's algorithm treats your listings going forward.
Prioritise:
- Fast dispatch: Ship every order within 24 hours if possible. Early dispatch metrics are heavily weighted
- Accurate listings: Any returns or complaints related to "item not as described" will hurt your account health score
- Customer messages: Respond to every message within 24 hours. Response rate is a key seller metric
- Pricing: Review your pricing against competitors in your category within the first week. Temu's algorithm favours competitively priced products
What Happens After Launch?
The first 30 days after launch are the most important period for your Temu store. This is when the algorithm is assessing your performance and deciding how much organic traffic to send your way. Sellers who maintain strong metrics during this window often see a significant traffic increase from month two onwards.
Our data shows that SellerSpring clients who follow this process see an average of £1,200–£4,000 in GMV during their first month, scaling to £7,000–£16,000 by month three. The sellers who perform best are those who treat Temu as a serious channel from day one — with proper product photography, competitive pricing, and fast fulfilment.
Can You Do This Yourself?
Absolutely. Everything in this guide is doable as a self-serve seller. The advantage of working with an agency like SellerSpring is speed, experience, and access. We've launched hundreds of stores, we know exactly where the compliance landmines are, and — critically — we have a direct relationship with Temu that gives our clients access to a dedicated Temu account manager, reduced shipping rates, and priority support that isn't available to self-serve sellers.
Whether you go it alone or work with us, the most important thing is to start now. Temu is in its growth phase in the UK, and the sellers who establish themselves today will have a significant advantage over those who wait.
